LUNDY REVIEW |
| QUICK LINKS | ![]() The first edition of the Lundy Review was published in Spring 1957. It was the initiative of Stanley Smith who first came to work on Lundy in 1931 and returned after the end of World War II. The Review was cyclostyled on foolscap paper, stapled down the side to open similar to a booklet. The masthead reflected the home-made nature of the publication and varied slightly with each edition. It deliberately had no fixed publication schedule, appearing when there was sufficient material. In fact, it published some excellent articles by people such as Felix Gade, John Dyke and Tony Langham, and it appeared fairly regularly for the first five issues. There was a gap before issue six came out, caused partly because Stanley and Audrey Smith had left Lundy for Bideford, where they ran a pub. The sixth issue wasnt intended to be the last because it announced that an article had been held over to the next edition, but that edition never appeared. We are making these editions of the Lundy Review available on a strictly non-commercial basis as searchable PDFs so that Lundy enthusiasts and researchers can easily access this important resource. The authors who wrote for the Review are no longer alive and it is now not always clear where their copyright lies. If anyone believes we have used their copyrighted material, we apologise and would like to be informed.
